Case Study

PrimePort Timaru is the most centrally located South Island port in New Zealand, with 2 container berths, 2 mobile cranes, breakbulk and project cargo handling, and the largest storage and wharfside warehousing of any New Zealand port.

PrimePort handles bulk grain, bulk liquids & fuels, logs, processed timber products, meat and seafood exports, dairy & produce exports, bulk fertiliser, stockfeed, and more.

With an expanding business and all of this to look after, PrimePort needed to replace their aging fleet of vehicle-mounted terminals and associated wireless infrastructure. They turned to Pocket Solutions for the solution.

Pocket Solutions recommended the PsionTeklogix 7530 hand-held and 8525 vehicle-mounted terminals, connected wirelessly via PsionTeklogix's exclusive narrow-band radio technology. Narrowband is known for reliable mission-critical data transmission over a licensed, private, interference-free radio spectrum. Primeport are attaining full coverage of their entire facility through the use of one (1) PsionTeklogix 9160 Access Point fitted with a narrowband radio.

"We wanted to remain with narrowband technology, but with more user friendly terminals. After the typical IT implementation issues were out of the way the equipment has worked faultlessly. Pocket Solutions not only provided the ideal hardware but also the technical expertise to get us through those issues."
